In July, together with China Life P&C and Zhongtai Futures, we launched the first ever weather derivative transaction in China. By linking weather derivatives with insurance, the product provided a new way to offer weather protection for the aquaculture farmers in Guangzhou province in China.

In December, in cooperation with China Merchants Futures, we executed the first “cold wave” option for Qiushi Energy, a power trading company, to compensate the loss of the firm resulting from increasing power demand and thus higher power price due to cold wave. Additionally, in collaboration with China Merchants Futures and China Life P&C, we developed a comprehensive winter drought and cold wave index cover for tea planting farmers in Hubei province.
